Where to Park

Please note that multiple downtown events can increase the time needed to secure parking convenient to both venues, especially the Balboa Theatre. Always allow adequate time to arrive and find suitable parking for the event you are attending.

Balboa Theatre

Due to the proximity of the Theatre to the Historic Gaslamp District, parking in the evenings and on the week-ends can be challenging. Multiple parking lots and structures are available in the Gaslamp area and most are within a few blocks walking distance of the Theatre.

We recommend parking at the NBC Building Garage at 225 Broadway. This underground facility offers easy access to the Balboa Theatre entrance and you can avoid the heavy traffic congestion frequently encountered on 4th Avenue.

Enter Broadway Circle from the intersection of 2nd Ave. and Broadway and follow around to the garage entrance down-ramp on the left, directly across from the Levi's Store.

There is a height limitation of 6 feet, 8 inches for all vehicles entering the NBC Building Garage. If your vehicle exceeds these limits, please utilize one of the open-air parking lots or street parking.

For most events, Advance Parking Passes (valid for the NBC Building Garage only), may be purchased at the same time you purchase your Balboa Theatre event tickets—for additional information on this, please contact Ticketing Services.

Current parking rates for the NBC Building Garage (rates subject to change) are:

Monday – Friday Evening Hours (after 5:30pm) - $10.00 per vehicle, flat rate

Saturday & Sunday - $10.00 per vehicle, flat rate

The Balboa Theatre is not a part of the Westfield Horton Plaza shopping mall and does not offer any parking validations if patrons choose to use their garage facilities. Patrons parking in the Westfield Horton Plaza garage are subject to validation ticket policies and/or standard hourly fees as set by Westfield Management.

Civic Theatre

The Concourse Parkade, officially named the Evan V. Jones Parkade, provides on-site parking for the Theatre. This eleven story structure accommodates over 1,150 parking spaces, with Accessible spaces available on every floor, and is situated at the corner of 1st Avenue and A Street. Take elevators to the Street (S) level to enter the Theatre.

There is a height limitation of 6 feet, 8 inches for all vehicles entering the Parkade. If your vehicle exceeds these limits, please utilize one of the open-air parking lots or street parking.

The most efficient entrance is located at 1st Avenue and B Street. You may also enter from 2nd Avenue and A Street or 3rd Avenue and B Street, although the 2nd and 3rd Avenue entrances may become congested close to show time, so use of the 1st Avenue entrance is suggested.

For most events, Advance Parking Passes (valid for the Evan V. Jones Parkade only), may be purchased at the same time you purchase your Civic Theatre event tickets. For additional information on this, please contact Ticketing Services. Advance Sale Parking Passes are not available for week-day (Monday-Friday) matinee performances.

Current parking rates for the Concourse Parkade (all subject to change) are:

Monday–Friday Daytime Hours (until 5:30pm) - $2.00 per 20 minutes, $18.00 maximum

General Downtown Parking Information

Street parking may be available in the surrounding areas, depending on your arrival time, but please be sure to check meter times before using these spaces. Most metered spaces are monitored Monday – Saturday, 8:00am to 6:00pm and multiple citations can be issued to a vehicle parked at an expired meter.

Designated Accessible Parking spaces are available on 3rd Avenue, adjacent to the Civic Theatre and at select spaces near the Balboa Theatre. All vehicles utilizing these spaces must display a valid Accessible Needs placard.

If attending a matinee performance during the week (Monday – Friday) at either venue, please be aware that downtown workers will occupy a majority of the available parking. You may wish to take advantage of the convenient San Diego Trolley and ride it to the Civic Center stop at 3rd Avenue and C Street. If you plan to drive, please allow ample time to secure parking and be prepared to pay premium daytime prices during the week. Advance Sale Parking Passes are not available for week day performances.
