Balboa Theatre
The Balboa Theatre seating has been completely renovated to provide maximum comfort to our patrons within a historic venue. With a total seating capacity of 1,339 the Balboa Theatre features a Main Floor Orchestra and second level Loge and Balcony sections with center section seat numbers in consecutive order beginning with 101. The House Right sections, with even-numbered seats, begin with seat 2 on the center right aisle and move outward. House Left sections, with odd-numbered seats, begin with seat 1 on center left aisle and move outward. Orchestra rows are alphabetical from the stage beginning with row A. Please note that during certain performances where the Orchestra Pit or Extended staging is not required, 2 additional rows (AA and BB) may be added in front of row A.
Seating comprises the following sections:
- Orchestra – Located on the main floor and the closest seating to the stage. With a capacity of 811 seats, the Orchestra features a large center seating section with additional seating in right (even-numbered) and left (odd-numbered) sections. There are a total of 12 Orchestra Wheelchair Accessible spaces plus 12 companion spaces (5 each in row H and 7 each in row X) and a total of 13 side Transfer Seats in the right and left aisles. Comprised of 25 permanent rows and 3 removable rows (2 in front, 1 in rear), access to all seats in this section are accessible without utilizing stairs.
- Loge - Located on the second level, this section extends over row N of the Orchestra and is comprised of 5 rows (A through E) and a total of 159 seats. Level 2A elevator access on the East side provides no-stair access to Loge A, seats 1-19. All other seats in this section do require the use of stairs.
- Balcony – Located directly behind the Loge on the second level, this section is comprised of 13 rows (F through T) of fixed seating, totaling 365 seats. All rows and seats in Balcony require use of stairs to access.
Civic Theatre
The San Diego Civic Theatre offers plush seating for 2,967 patrons. Seats are numbered from the center of the theatre, beginning with numbers one and two, progressively going higher toward the outer edges. Even numbers are on House Right and odd numbers are on House Left. Rows are labeled alphabetically in ascending order from the stage beginning with Row A. Please note that during certain productions when the orchestra pit/extended orchestra pit are not required and removable seating is in place, the first three rows are AA, BB, and CC followed by Row A.
Seating comprises the following sections:
- Orchestra - This is the section closest to the stage and on the main floor. It includes a maximum of 1,218 seats featuring "continental" seating with no center aisles and extra leg room between rows. There are 4 wheelchair locations with companion seats. There are 8 side transfer seats. There are 20 permanent rows and three removable rows over the orchestra pit. Access to the Orchestra is via two sloped walkways with no stairs.
- Dress Circle - This section is at the rear of the main floor and is elevated approximately three feet above the last row of the Orchestra. It includes 421 seats arranged in four sections of eight rows each. There are 12 wheelchair locations with accompanying companion seats. The last row of the Dress Circle (Row H) can be accessed without encountering any stairs.
- Lower Loge - This section is similar to side box seats on either side of the house and overhang the Orchestra's side seating. There are a total of 46 seats in 11 rows on house left and a total of 50 seats in 13 rows on house right. Lower Loge seats are only accessible via stairs.
- Mezzanine - This section overhangs above the Dress Circle. It includes 422 seats arranged in four sections of eight rows each. There are 12 wheelchair locations with accompanying companion seats. The last row of the Mezzanine (Row W) can be accessed without encountering any stairs.
- Upper Loge - This section overhangs the Lower Loges on either side of the house. There are a total of 50 seats in 13 rows on house left and a total of 50 seats in 13 rows on house right. From the Mezzanine Lobby, Row H is accessible without countering any stairs.
- Balcony - This is the top level of seating and is above the Mezzanine. There are a total of 710 seats in the Balcony. All Balcony seats require use of stairs for access from the Balcony level lobby.
